Episode Highlights

We see in ourselves the same sin pattern that the people of Israel displayed: we do good, we sin against God, we cry out for mercy and then we turn towards Him and ask for forgiveness. He redeems through His Son, and this cycle repeats. God’s patience is constantly expressed through Him bringing us through this sin cycle over and over again. This desire if fueled by love.

The Judges:

  • Are an echo from the Old Testament of Christ in the New Testament

  • Sometimes neglect God’s way and act foolishly

  • Have had to learn to obey God the hard way

How do I identify if I’m in this sin cycle?

  • Are you constantly bewildered with a besetting sin? Are you in a place where you can’t walk in freedom from this sin? Are you being proactive to ask God to free you from these sins moment by moment? Do you long to repent? Are you experiencing conviction, not condemnation?

How do I navigate this sin cycle with someone close to me?

  • After meeting and connecting with them and they are talking about the same thing over long stretches of time in a way where they just want to complain and not repent? This can be really challenging! Be sure to express mercy to them, but also stand firm in sharing truth with them. Be encouraged, be slow to speak, quick to hear and slow to anger. When we rightly see ourselves, we know that we sin and fall short of God’s glory as well, and His grace is what has redeemed us! With humility, this allows us to meet the person in the sin cycle with meekness. Remember that only God can save people.
